 Die FJ-1 Fury war einer der ersten trägergestützen Düsenjäger überhaupt. Der Erstflug fand bereits am 11.September 1946 statt, jedoch wurden nur insgesamt 33 Maschinen gebaut. North American nutzte für dieses Flugzeug Teile ihrer berühmten P-51 Mustang. Aber die einzige Staffel der US Navy, welche die FJ-1 einsetzte, war die VF-5A, stationiert im NAS North Island, Nähe San Diego.
Obwohl bei ihren Piloten sehr beliebt, wurden die FJ-1 schnell von der technischen Entwicklung
überholt. Sie wurden daher bald an Reserveeinheiten übergeben, wie z.B. die dargestellte Maschine der NAS Oakland / Californien.

 The FJ-1 Fury was one of the first carrier jet fighters. The maiden flight was already on 11.September 1946, however only 33 were produced. North American use for this plane parts of the famous P-51 Mustang. But the only US Navy squadron to receive the FJ-1 was VF-5A, based at NAS North Island near San Diego.
Although very popular with their pilots, the FJ-1 were overtaken fast by the technical development. They were handed over therefore soon at reserve units, e.g. the represented machine of the NAS Oakland / California.
